Do you think we are too fractured today? I have 2 websites, 2 email lists, 2 Facebook pages, 1 Facebook group, 2 Google+ pages, a massive Twitter following, and about 4000 Facebook friends and I still get people who say, “I didn’t know you had an event yesterday.” How could this possibly happen?

It’s not that they don’t care, not at all. I think it is because we have TOO MUCH communication, too many communication platforms. How can anyone keep up with five or six different communication platforms? Not to mention all the other news sources.

Rather than creating a more cohesive web experience, it seems that the explosion of social media has created a more fractured web experience. People are overwhelmed trying to keep up and therefore miss much more than they previously did when there were only a couple communication platforms.

It happens to me, too. I miss stuff that I would have liked to know about. I know that personally I cannot keep up with it all, between Email, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google+ and the others. Have you found that all the different platforms enhance or detract from your ability to stay informed and in touch? via Facebook
