One of the main goals of Life Is Art, Inc is to stop the exploitation of artists for the financial gain of others. We are pissed off about what is happening in places like Wynwood. One of the KEY elements of a sustainable arts community is support from the government. Designation of art districts, zoning and such, this is what creates space for the local artists to thrive and adds to a healthy and happy city.

A few weeks ago Hialeah Councilman Paul Hernandez came to me through JennyLee Molina to talk about what they are doing with The Leah Arts District. You can be sure that I grilled him hard about their plans. I was extremely surprised that he came up with a lot of the right answers. He has been working hard on this and it seems the City is really behind it.

Come out on this Sunday, May 17th and see what is happening. Already there are a number of murals up by some amazing local artists. It’s going to be a real party, with live music, live painting, food trucks and more. It’s free and open to the public. via Facebook
