When I tell people we work to help local artists, I get asked a lot if we work with kids. We generally do not (although we do support other organizations that do). There are lots of organizations that work with kids & art. My question is, then what? It is great to inspire kids to be artists, but if we then just send them away, we suffer from a creativity drain, just like the brain drain that is also a problem.
After they have inspired and educated the kids in art, and they graduate from school all raring to go be an artist in Miami, then what? Who is here to support the emerging, struggling local artists and give them opportunity to be artists here in Miami? There are a few of us out there, but not many.
