So, the FDOT Southeast Florida has a big problem. Drivers are running down too many of their orange sticks that separate the regular freeway lanes from the VIP lanes. Big problem, to the tune of nearly $1M per year to replace them. Now, first of all DUUUUHHH. Anyone who has lived here more than a few years could have predicted that. How FDOT did not see that coming is beyond me. But that is not what this is about. Their solution to the problem of drivers running down too many orange sticks is to… wait for it… PUT OUT MORE ORANGE STICKS. They are going to double the number of sticks from 1 per 10′ to 1 per 5′.
